Malia's 'Good Listener' bucket
I've been really having a hard time trying to figure out how to teach Malia to listen - to me and Ry and also to her teacher at preschool. So I was checking out the Super Nanny website (I love Jo Jo!) and I am trying out the little reward system where she gets to put little marbles or whatever into a can or jar and once it's filled up they get a treat or new toy or get to go to a movie or the zoo - just some kind of reward. On her website it talks about how you have to focus on the positive things they are doing and give them attention for that rather then them just getting in trouble for things all day long and getting attention for only things they are doing wrong. Of course I already knew that, but it's easier said than done...and old habits die hard. So anyway, Malia and I went to Roberts this morning and picked out a bucket and some little fuzzy balls that she will fill her bucket up with when she does good things or listens, etc and then we spent the morning decorating it and glueing things to it. It was a fun little crafty morning for us - I should let her do things like this more often! Anyway, I wish I had a picture of it, but Ryan has our camera with him over in Singapore/Malaysia...but it's pretty sweet! Malia did a good job! So hopefully this will work! If anyone has any ideas of things they've done that have worked, I'd love to hear about it!! I think the biggest thing is that I need to be a better example for her and listen to her more and be more positive with her and she will follow. It's a little depressing hearing her tell Cole what to do or say things that I say to her all the time. I wish the saying 'Do what I say, not as I do' was actually true and worked!! But I guess it's myself that I need to fix first.

I think your listener bucket sounds like a great idea. Good luck!
What a good idea. Ezekiel has not been a good listener at all lately and he doesn't care about time-outs so this might be perfect. Right now I have his halloween candy to threaten him with but this jar would probably be better. hehe I'm going to go look on Jojo website too! thanks for the good tip!
Great idea. I need something. Lately Brooklynn has had a hard time with that too. I might have to try this. I love Jo jo too.
