The first day we did Spry canyon. I hadn't done this one before, so I was excited to try it. Although, now after doing it, I don't know that I would do it again. It had some pretty cool rapells, but there were some that just sucked! Sorry, I mean stunk! They were just hard and not as fun as others I have done. The last rapell was the most fun though...it had a nice little free rapell of about 90 feet (I think).
Doug and Cory getting in the little bit of shade we could find. Then there's me wondering what the heck I was smoking thinking that I was in good enough shape to be able to hike this junk! My 2 weeks of running every morning hadn't seemed to be helping me much on this terrain! My legs were on fire and shaking after 2 minutes of climbing this thing!
Zion is so beautiful...I don't know how anyone could not love it! The 2nd pic here is one of the sweet rapells in Spry
Me and Sheri waiting for our turn to rapell...don't ya love our sweet helmets! At least Sheri's is a REAL climbing/canyoneering helmet...mine is just one we found at home - it does it's job, but it's pretty cheesy looking, and it was much heavier and made me kinda sweaty! The 2nd day I used Sheri's because she didn't go with us and her helmet was much better! And mostly I just didn't look as much like a dork! Hey, at least we were being safe, right?
Another cool rapell in Spry and the sun coming over the top made the picture kinda cool...then there is Doug in his bicycle helmet...ok, mine wasn't the worst! But it just kinda goes with Doug's personality anyway!
Me and Ryan - 2nd pic is the group of us at the end of Spry, swimming in the springs.
The 2nd day, Me, Doug, Cory, Jeff at the top of Mystery...You'd think that once you got to the top of that miserable hike (about 3 hours of hiking about 3 miles at a 45 degree angle and ascending about 2100 feet) that you'd be done...but no. You then drop down 1000 feet or so into 'Death Gully' and your legs really get shaking...we were all doing 'The Elvis' by the time we were done. Well, at least I was. Who the heck do I think I was to try and keep up with these boys? Their packs were at least double the weight of mine...and they still could kick my trash! But hey, at least I did it. I can look back some day and say that even though I'm a wuss, I did this hike and rapelled through slot canyons...not many people get to do that so I am lucky these boys let me tag along! (and they better...I introduced it to them in the first place!)
The last rapell in Mystery...goes down a 120 ft waterfall into the Narrows. We had a pretty big crowd gathering to watch us...luckily no one embarrassed themselves too much with our audience! It was a little slippery with all the moss. But it is one of my favorite rapells. And it's just fun to hike down the narrows after a long day! Very refreshing!
Anyway, there are a ton more pictures...and of some really cool rapells, but for some reason I couldn't get the ones that were sideways and I had rotated to upload - so check out the album on my facebook page if you want to see more.
so now I'm home...and extremely sore! I haven't been able to walk normally for a few days...which means I have been slacking on my running too and will have to start all over when I get going again. I'm not looking forward to it. But anyway, it was a very fun trip and it was really hard to come home and get back into mommy mode again.

Looks like you guys had a blast! It is always nice to have a fun and kick your butt trip. Your pictures look great!
Scary! You guys are tough. We should totally go to the museum. Steph has a pass too. She has mentioned planning a fun-day. Let's do it!
So much fun Jen! I thought you were't able to go this year? I'm glad you did though. Maybe one day I will try rock repelling or whatever it is you guys did. Summer vacations are the best!!
Oh my gosh, you got some awesome pictures!!! If I bring you a CD, will you burn them for me while we're in town??
Wow, that looks like a lot of intense fun. I'm glad you were safe, and I don't think there is any way to make helmets look hot, unless Angelina Jolie was sporting one. j/k :-)
Ooohh...I am so jealous! That looks like so much freakin' fun! You are a tough chicky :-) I'm sure the boys had to work to keep up with you ladies. Glad you had fun and got to go - it makes me want to go backpacking SO bad!
