Seriously, every time we go on vacation with the Baumanns', there is some sort of crazy story that we come home with. This time there were several! The biggest one though is the most tragic. Ryan, Sheri, and Jeff went out on their 4 wheelers and came up on a lady who had crashed and tipped over on the side of the trail. Jeff immediately went back to call for help after helping Ry lift the 4-wheeler off the top of her. Sheri and Ry started trying to look for a pulse because she was non responsive, but couldn't find one. They said it must have just happened because the wheels on her 4 wheeler were still spinning when they got there. Then just minutes after they got there, the group that was with her showed up - her husband and two others, a teenage girl and her dad - and started doing CPR. The 15 yr old girl is the only one there that knew how to do CPR and she did the chest compressions while the husband of the lady did the mouth to mouth. Anyway, basically they said she had died the second she hit the tree because her neck was definitely broken and the way it was positioned under the 4-wheeler and against the tree, there was definitely no question. Anyway, it was really really sad, especially seeing the husband. He was totally hysterical obviously and blaming himself because she had said she didn't feel comfortable going on that certain path because it was a little un-even, and he'd told her it would be fine, etc etc. So we all felt really bad for him. Anyway, if you want more details I can tell you later.
Anotehr event that happened on our trip was the boys all went out on their 4-wheelers one morning and said they'd go for a quick ride...well almost 6 hours later, Jeff shows up in front of the cabin in a highway patrol car and of course we all panic and wonder what happened...then he gets out of the car laughing. Apparently one of the 4wheelers broke down and Ryan was going to get help (after trying to call but since no one at the cabin had service, they couldnt get ahold of anyone) and Ryan came out on the main highway on his 4 wheeler and got 'pulled over' by the cop...he asks for his license and registration then Ryan explains what's happening, and the guys follows him back to where Jeff and Doug are, then gives Jeff a ride back to the cabin so we can get the trailer hooked up to go get them. It was pretty crazy.
Also, Cole was eating breakfast one morning and tipped over on his chair, cutting his chin open pretty bad...he hasn't been able to eat or drink anything without crying since so I think maybe he dislocated his jaw or something cuz he always points to his ear and inside his mouth by his back tooth and tongue when I ask where it hurts. So hopefully he'll get better in the next day or so or I might have to take him in. He did it on Monday...and today is Wednesday, so it should start feeling a little better soon hopefully.
Anyway, we also got to go to the Minatonka Caves which area little bit like Timpanogas Cave...it was pretty cool. Very cold and the kids didn't love the dark very much, but it was fun. Sheri & Jeff came with us too and Mason wasn't loving it at all. He screamed the WHOLE time in the cave, which of course echoed a LOT and the whole group that was with us on the tour was probably irritated! It was pretty funny...We felt bad for Jeff and Sheri!!
Also, the weather wasn't that great and the first 4 days we didn't even get to go out to the Lake or on the water because it was so dang cold! We only got to the beach the last day up there and some people went out to wake board, but I was a wimp and was just too dang cold to try. And for some reason, I'm getting motion sickness really bad in my old age and just about puked over the side of the boat so I didn't really feel like trying to wakeboard. Oh, and when we were cleaning up to go back to the cabin, Ry realized he'd left his keys to the car on the boat, and they'd already taken off and loaded the boat and headed back to the cabin, a half hour away. And of course no one was answering their phones...so we got to hang out on the beach for a while till we got ahold of someone to come back with our car keys!
I'll post pictures later....internet issues like always. I'll have to go to my mom's house or something to upload all my pictures of the last few weeks.
Anyway, we would appreciate if everyone would keep the family of the lady that died in their prayers...we didn't know them either, but they were from California on vacation and the husband's name was Bill. It really was a sad situation and they were not LDS, and Sheri said it was a good teaching opportunity talking about life after death, etc. But anyway, just remember them in your prayers please!
I'm glad to be home and in my own bed...now it's just the clean up, laundry, and catching up on everything else we have to do!

Holy cow!! That is SO sad!!! I can't believe the bad luck you guys get when going on a vacation! :S
Wow Jen. You certainly had some vacation, huh? I am so sorry that you guys had to witness what happened to that poor family. I can't even imagine. I will keep them in my prayers...that is so sad. Maybe next year, your Bear Lake vacation will be a little more calm. :)
That's just aweful! That poor family, I can't even imagine! Yeah, you shouldn't go on vacation anymore - too much bad luck.
WOW Jen, That's quite the adventure your family's been on. I'm glad I know CPR. It's a little eerie to be in the presence of a dead person (morbid, I know), but still a little creepy!
Now that you're home, let's go and play...without the casualties!
WOW! That will be a vacation you guys NEVER forget! That is so sad about that lady! I hope Cole keeps doing better!
What a sad trip! That poor woman and family. I am really sorry that you guys had such rough vacation. Sounds like you need another one. Well, you relax and take care.
Yikes, and I thought our vacations were adventuresome!
oops- that last comment was from me- I didn't realize I was signed in under my husband ;)
