Oops!

Last night just before dinner I was playing with Cole trying to keep him from climbing up on the chairs and banging on the plates with the sliverware, and Malia was playing with her dolls. Kathy was getting the last few things of dinner ready and went to put some things on the table, and I saw her come walking - quickly - back into the kitchen saying something like "oh dear!" At first I thought Malia had an accident...just like every other day, but then Kathy said that Malia had colored on the wall...with a permanent marker. So we both ran in to try to scrub it off before it dried too much, but there's a reason it's called a 'permanent' marker. Kathy tried some hair spray because she said someone tried something like that at her school and it worked...but it took some paint off...and still left remains of Malia's lovely little drawing. I didn't know what to do. I made her go to time out...but it didn't seem like enough to me. How do you deal with that? I sat her down, several times, and told her she's not supposed to color on walls and that she'd have to tell Grandpa that she was VERY sorry and would NEVER do it again. Luckily Kathy had called Grandpa to warn him before he got home so he was not upset with her at all! But we are going to have to re-paint the whole wall now.
Anyway, if anyone knows of any good places to get carpet please let me know...we are closing on our house today and we need to get looking around for a good deal and get our carpet ordered. Thanks!

Call Jana to find out about this product, it has "magic" as part of the name I think, that takes of permanent marker and almost anything from walls.

You could try goo gone or the mister clean magic earaser. I don't know if you need a lot of carpet but if you go to the rc willey down town they sale remnants of carpet and it is cheaper because it is what was left from other orders.

Jen - Hi there - it's Susan Oldroyd here. We miss you guys - hope you don't mind that I check up on your blog - I get it through Dani's. Anyway, Tyler did the same thing to my wall and I thought I would never get it out. Danielle had a Magic Eraser and we used it and it totally came out! Worth a try! Hope things are going well with you guys.

My cousin sells carpet and flooring. (I think mostly tile and hardwood stuff) but I could reference you if you wanted. Congrats on the house, and good luck with your "artist."

SOME day you'll look back at this and laugh, I promise. Magic eraser is fabulous, because you can even have the kids scrub with it. It has worked many times for us. Hang in there!

Jen: Magic Eraser has saved my household! Savannah has an obsession with markers on the walls. And she always finds the permanent ones. The only place we can't get it out of with the magic eraser is the doors. Those will all have to be repainted. I have marker ALL over my house! Ya gotta love those kids! The magic eraser will slightly sand the paint so just don't scrub too hard, but it does get the marker off without too much damage! Allyson

Just gonna say the Magic eraser..it is awesome!
We got our carpet at Cost u less in Draper. We got a great deal, and our carpet is wonderful! You can clean it with straight bleach and it doesn't turn your carpet.
I would go to the store and check their prices. Miss ya guys!

How about Malia does extra chores, each with a price tag attached, until she's saved up enough to "help" Grandpa pay for the new paint. That way, she learns the value of money, and the consequences of her actions. Just an idea from old Grandma!! :)
