Malia's tag

A lot of these some of you might already have heard me talk about...but it's hard to think of new things that I haven't already told at least one person about!

10 Things You (May or) May Not Know About Malia

1-She is a very independent girl. She will throw a fit if we try to help her put her clothes or shoes on unless she asks us to. She always wants to do things 'by myself!' But she is getting a little camera shy now. She used to always ask me to take pictures of her, and now she refuses to look at the camera! I have to say 'Don't smile' for her to look at me and try to hide her smile. Anything that I ask her to do, she wants to do the opposite! Typical 3 year old I guess!

2-Malia is my skinny little girl. She has never been above the 30% range for her weight ever since she was born. She actually got to the negative 20th percentile. She turns 3 in a couple weeks and is barely 25lbs - which is finally back on the chart at least, at whoppin' 3% line! She is very healthy and active...and I guess she will just always be litte! It took us taking her up for several appointments with a nutritionist at Primary Children's and lots of blood tests to make sure she was healthy before we figured that out. Now that we've relaxed more about her eating and not worrying about her weight she eats so much better (most of the time).

3-Malia is totally into anything Princess right now. She is asking for a princess cake and lots or princess dolls for her birthday. She wants to wear a dress every day just like Cinderella and Ariel - she wants to wear beautiful dresses just like them! We looked at bikes at the store the other day, and of course she saw a princess one that she has to have now! She can't figure out how to pedal yet though, so we will probably wait till the next birthday, or maybe Christmas to get her a real bike.

4-Lately Malia has been talking like a baby (a lot). My guess is that she is talking just like Cole does...and gets reactions from him so she thinks it's funny & does it more. Her little jibberish talk will go on and on for 15 minutes before I can understand a single word of what she has said. She gets really loud and screams her jibberish right in my ear - as if that will help me understand what she is saying!

5-Malia was very slow at getting her teeth. Her 1st tooth came in just a week before her 1st birthday. Then it was like one every couple of months that came through. She is almost 3, and still no sign of her 2yr old molars.

6-She loves to read. She has her little princess books that Grandma gave her for Christmas almost memorized. I posted a video of her reading the Snow White book a while ago...and now she is so much better than that it's crazy! She reads it almost word for word...and she's got all 4 of them memorized - Snow White, Cinderella, Little Mermaid, and Beauty & the Beast. I love listening to her sweet little voice when she reads...we usually have to read it to her once, than she likes to read it back to us, and then once to Cole. We go through all of them EVERY night before she goes to bed. And 10 times during the day too. But I'm glad she likes to read...it's good for her! She also gets very annimated with her voice and facial expressions. Oh, and she has quite the imagination. She pretends that EVERYTHING is a person, usually a princess. Today, it's her blankets. One is Ariel, and the other is her father, King Triton. Sometimes it's crayons, or books, spoons, wipes, shoes...pretty much anything! And she totally gets her feelings hurt if I tell her to put it away, etc because 'it's Ariel mom!' They have feelings and take naps and eat and everything. It's very entertaining!

7-Malia is very smart and has been ahead of a lot of kids her age on almost everything. She has been potty trained since she was 2 1/2 yrs old...although she did revert a little bit and have a lot of accidents for a couple months. She remembers everything that she sees or hears - even if it was only once. She starts preschool this fall, and already knows all her colors, shapes, numbers, letters, etc that they learn at preschool. A lot of our family members are teachers and they always say that she will be a very good student - if she will only learn to listen a little bit better! But I'm sure it comes with age too!

8-She loves her little brother Cole. She also likes to control everything that he does. She will tell him which toys he can play with and how long, she picks out what he will wear every day (and her own outfit), she stands in doorways with legs spread and arms out against each side to block him from crawling in or out of a room if she doesn't want him too. And she likes to shut doors in his face and then peek out to see if he's still there.

9-She hates to have her hair done! She cries every day when we brush it and it's always a fight to get her to let me do it! The only thing she will let me do without any complaints is to blowdry and straighten after she's had a bath. She likes it because it helps her get warm and there are much less tangles when it's straightened! Her naturally curly hair can get very tangly and sometimes a little bit frowie. We love her hair and I am very jealous! I always wanted curly hair and we have no idea where she got it from. No one in either of our families has ever had curly hair...and hers REALLY curly. I love it!

10-Malia's favorite game ever since birth has been to be chased, or to chase other people. Usually in circles around our kitchen table, or coffee table, etc. Mostly with her daddy, or uncle Doug! She laughs so hard and she has the cutest laugh in the world! It's my favorite sound in the world too! She likes to pretend that she doesn't like it now, but can't hide her smile and laugh when they catch her. She just has to be her little dramatic self and pretend she doesn't like it...but then will look back to see if anyone is chasing her and then run and squeal! She is such a sweetheart and we love her so much!

Jen! She is so adorable and I love her long brown hair. Hannah too loves to dress in princess stuff and cannot get enough of it. Often she will get dressed in the mornings in her halloween princess costume. I loved to hear all about your little girl. She sure is a tiny little thing but so adorable.

I think she is smarter than I am, I still have trouble with colors and shapes.
