I know this is a little late, but my internet sucks and it's taken me forever to get all these pictures uploaded!
Last weekend my baby girl turned 4! I can't believe it! On Friday, we took Malia to the Princess Festival in Lindon (thanks Miranda for telling me about it!) with her Friend Londyn, of course! Those two are joined at the hip right now! Anyway, it was so much fun! I think I'm going to make this a tradition and go every year! It was so dang cute and Malia was in heaven! All the little girls were so cute in their dress-up clothes and hair done, etc. They had the 'Blue Fairy' take all the little princesses on an adventure to become a True Princess and they had to pass certain 'tests' on the way.
They first learned how to 'talk' like a True Princess and say "Pleased to meet you" to all their new friends and then learned how to curtsey! It was so cute! Then they helped the Princes save the different Princesses - first they helped save Snow White from the evil witch, then helped the next prince save Rapunzel from the tower, then Cinderella from her evil stepsisters...then they learned how to spin and twirl and dance like a true princess so that they would be ready for the ball! Then they helped save Sleeping Beauty and they all shook her bed that she was asleep in and yelled 'wake up!' And that whole time, Malia was yanking on 'Prince Phillip's' shirt saying, 'No! You have to kiss her!' and he would answer back, 'kiss her? that's gross!' But when the bed-shaking thing didn't work, all the little girls were yelling 'Kiss her! Kiss her!' So he finally did and it woke her up and all the little girls were giggling and cheering! It was so cute! Anyway, Malia was right up in front the whole time right behind the blue fairy or the prince that was leading them to the next thing. She was so fun to watch!
Then they went to the ball and all the princes danced with their princesses and then the little girls got to dance with the Princes and take pictures with the Princesses, etc. Malia kept going back to the two guys who were 'Prince Phillip' and Snow White's Prince. All the actors and actresses were so cute with all the little girls...but especially the girl who was Snow White! Malia was dressed as Snow White too, and kept going back to talk to her and she was so sweet with Malia! She spun her around and sat down and talked to her and listened to Malia's LONG stories and explanations about anything and everything! It was so much fun! And after the 'Ball' was over, Ariel gave them all a free pearl necklace to take home. We ran out of time or we would have done the other activities they had for them there too, like making wands or crowns at the little craft tent, etc. We definitely will be doing this again next year and I definitely recommend it to anyone who has little girls! It was a blast!
Malia's birthday was Saturday and we had to have her 'Princess party' that she has been begging for for like 4 months! It was a little crazy with all the little kids running around, but it went pretty well! Malia only has 3 girls in her preschool class and we only know a few other girls her age, so we invited 'Princes' to come too! All of her cousins are boys anyway and would have felt bad if we left them out! But it was fun anyway! All the little girls were so cute in their princess clothes too!
We did a princess version of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey...they had to stick Cinderella in the Castle window! Malia refused to put on her blindfold and of course peeked to she put hers on in exactly the right spot! The other kids were pretty funny trying to do it too! Ry had fun teasing Jordan and Ryken and spinning them around till they were so dizzy they couldn't even stand up and then trying to get them to walk straight to put theirs on!
Then we did a pinata that was shaped like a princess castle. Malia was barely touching the thing when she hit it, but a few of the kids were hilarious to watch! Kayla smacked it harder than any of the other boys that were there! She's a tough little chick! And this little girl from Malia's preschool class that came, Regan, is just the teeniest little girl you've ever seen and you wouldn't think she'd have much power to her swing, but dang baby! She was a fierce little lady and was beatin' that thing to death! Her face was so funny too because she was so intense! It was so cute! We had to let the boys and Kayla have a few extra turns so that we could get that thing open for them eventually!
But anyway, it was so much fun! Malia got lots of girly princess stuff and she loves it! Ryan got her a new bike and she has been begging to ride it every day since! She was a little nervous at first, but she's starting to get the hang of it! She still goes pretty slow, and can't turn around, but it's all good! We've got lots of time to practice! She looks so cute in her little helmet too! Anyway, happy birthday my sweet little princess Malia!! I love you!!
